2016 125GP ACU NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP LAUNCHED
Following on the demise of the 125cc class at British Championship level, NG Road Racing is to run a National series in 2016 for 125cc Grand Prix machines.
Riders of 125GP machines will now be able to compete for a full National title, following the NG Road Racing Club’s announcement that the launch of the new 125GP ACU National Championship will take place at Donington Park on May 7/8th.
When news broke in March this year that two-stroke Grand Prix machines would no longer be eligible for the HEL Performance British Motostar Championship, NGRRC stepped in to offer riders of 125GP bikes a prestigious championship to race in, as well as the chance to become the first ACU National 125GP champion and collect their trophy at the important ACU awards ceremony alongside bike racing’s big name winners.
The opening rounds will take place at Donington Park on May 7/8th and will be run across a further eight rounds, taking in historic circuits including Oulton Park, Castle Combe and Thruxton.
Sharing a grid with the club’s highly successful 250GP National Championship, the 125cc series will see riders contest races over national length race distances (25 miles), as well as benefiting from structured warm-up and qualifying sessions, and a designated podium celebration.
To help keep costs to a minimum, riders will be free to choose their own tyres and fuel, plus organisers have several potential sponsors lined up to cover end of year championship awards, a credit voucher scheme for podium finishers and performance of the day awards for none podium finishers.
All interested riders should contact series organiser Steve Bostock on 07967 681639/01452 304804 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
